When the user pushes the button, the phone charging cycle is initiated and indicated by the blue LED light coming on. The energy saving is achieved by the intelligent electronics inside the unit, which shuts down most of the circiut board when the inteligent electronics inside the unit detects a drop in current demand from the handset. When the phone is fully charged or disconnected, the electronic shutdown is indicated by the LED light going off.
